Georgia Kate is 10 Months Old!

Look who's 10 months old!!!

Such a big girl!
Her favorite dolly
Pulling herself up on everything!
Ready to get her monthly scans done
These two LOVE each other to pieces!
Mama's sweet girl
My little troublemaker
Weight: somewhere around 18 pounds...by some miracle, we haven't been to the pediatrician in quite some time!

Height: 29ish inches...still crazy tall!

What she's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 9-12 month clothes

Eating: Well, a miracle happened this month. Georgia finally decided she needed teeth...4 at once, to be exact! Yikes! Her two top and two bottom front teeth are all coming in at the same time. Despite making her cranky, she is finally able to bite off pieces of food. She basically eats everything we eat. She loves any breakfast food, applesauce, spaghetti, chicken and grapes, among many other things. She is no longer on bottles and takes all her milk from a sippy cup...such a big girl! She seems to be tolerating all the dairy we've tried well at this point. The only thing she's never had is straight cow's milk. Hopefully, her milk intolerance is a thing of the past!

Sleeping: She goes down around 7:00-7:30 pm and sleeps until 6:00ish am or whenever she wakes up. No more waking her up to nurse...yay!!!

Special Tricks: Georgia is a mover and a shaker! She crawls (really fast) and pulls herself up on everything. She can stand on her own for an incredibly long time, but so far, hasn't shown much interest in cruising around. She is happiest just buzzing around the house, looking for things to check out. The big news this month is that Georgia was discharged from physical therapy!! She is doing so well...you would never guess she ever had a muscular issue. She has no limitations in the movement of her neck at all anymore. Despite this good news, she did not make any progress on her scans this month. She is still right at 6.6 mm. This means we are not saying goodbye to the helmet just yet. Hopefully, she will hit a big growth spurt this month, and we will see a significant change in the measurements at her next appointment. Fortunately, the helmet has become second nature for us at this point so it's not too big a deal.

Activities: Georgia's favorite activity these days to just crawl around and explore. She's happy as can be going from room to room and seeing what there is to get into. She is still enamored with her big brother so she likes hanging out wherever he is. She also loves to look out the big windows in our living room and check out what's going on out in the world...or on our street, at least! Oddly enough, she is completely uninterested in the Christmas tree and decorations and pays absolutely no attention to them whatsoever. Whew!

Georgia has begun saying mama and dada this month, and it completely melts my heart. It's stinking adorable. Love her and her toothy grin to pieces!

Georgia Kate is 9 Months Old!

Wow...9 months old! Where did the time go? On one hand, it has flown by, but on the other, it's been a LOOOOONNNNGGGG 9 months with this loud, opinionated girl!

Weight: 17 lbs 8 oz (No, she has not lost 12 oz since last month. Apparently, the nurse did not take her measurements accurately so they were WAY off. She is still very petite (40th percentile) and isn't gaining weight very quickly, but she eats anything we put in front of her so her pediatrician isn't too worried.)

Height: 28.5 inches (Again, she didn't get shorter...she is still crazy long (85th percentile). Tall and skinny!)

What she's wearing: Size 3 diaper, mostly 9 month clothes

Eating: She nurses and eats regular food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She is a great eater...she will eat just about anything we put in front of her. Right now, Georgia really likes waffles and pancakes, scrambled eggs, any type of pureed fruit and just about anything else she can mash between her gums because she STILL DOESN'T HAVE A SINGLE TOOTH. I don't think they're ever coming in! Fortunately, she has had a few things with small amounts of dairy in them, and she seems to be tolerating them well. This week, we will try small amounts of yogurt. Hopefully, she will have completely outgrown the milk protein intolerance by her first birthday. Fingers crossed!

Sleeping: She goes down around 7:30 pm and sleeps until 6:00 am when I wake her up to eat again. She is FINALLY a great sleeper!!!

Special Tricks: Georgia is officially a crawler! She started crawling about a week ago and has since begun to pull herself up on things. She can make it onto her knees but hasn't quite mastered getting all the way up on her feet. I don't think I'm ready for that yet! She continues to do really well in physical therapy. We were hoping she would be discharged soon, but it turns out, they won't discharge her until she's out of the helmet. Thankfully, she's still making good progress in the helmet. We had new scans done today, and she showed an improvement of a little over 1 mm (she's down to 6.6 mm). Our orthotist thinks she will be in the helmet for another 6-8 weeks. The goal is to get the difference in measurements down below 5 mm. I'm hoping she's out of it by Christmas!

Activities: Georgia's favorite activity right now is to just roam around the house and explore the world around her. She particularly loves Oliver's toys, of course!

I just love this sweet little girl to death. I have never felt so challenged yet so drawn in by anyone in my life. I can't wait to find out what God has in store for this little firecracker of mine.

P.S. Here's a picture of Oliver at 10 months. You certainly can't tell they're siblings, can you? :-)

Pumpkin Patch 2014

A few weeks ago, we took a family trip to Apple Works, a local pumpkin patch and apple orchard. We had a great time checking out the animals, walking the trails, taking a train ride and picking out our pumpkins. Apple Works is the perfect setting for spending a fall day with family!

Checking out the small petting zoo

This girl loved looking at the animals!
Two cuties :-)
My peeps

They made the climb to the top of the haystack.
He loved driving the tractor!

Daddy and Georgia
Love these two!
A boy's gotta sit somewhere, right?
Oliver's favorite part of the whole day...a train ride with Mommy!
Such a beautiful place to spend the day!
Almost got them all looking...
It's never going to happen...

Georgia Kate is 8 Months Old!

Weight: 18 lbs 4 oz (She finally gained weight...yay!)

Height: 30 inches

What she's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 6-9 month clothes

Eating: She nurses and eats solids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is getting really good at eating "real people" food. She loves bananas, apple straws, waffles and cereal. She is finally off the reflux medication, and I have tried several times to reintroduce small amounts of dairy into my diet. Unfortunately, it did not end well for anybody. :( Guess we will wait another couple of weeks or so and try again.

Sleeping: She goes down around 7:30 pm and sleeps until 6:00 am when I wake her up to eat again.

Special Tricks: Georgia is rolling all over the place, sitting up on her own and ALMOST crawling. She can go backwards and is working really hard on moving forward. She's almost there! The progress she has made in physical therapy is incredible! She is down to every other week now. She has also made a ton of progress with the helmet. We had follow-up scans done recently, and she showed an improvement of 3 mm (she started at 10.8 mm and is down to 7.7 mm). Our orthotist thinks she will be in the helmet for another 6-8 weeks. The goal is to get the difference in measurements down below 5 mm. She's well on her way!

Activities: Georgia's favorite activity is watching her brother. She pretty much thinks he's the funniest thing in the world. They love to play together...I always say she is going to be one tough chick as a result of all the rough-housing they do!

I can't believe what a big girl Georgia is becoming! Although she is incredibly impatient (and has a wicked set of lungs on her!), she is a sweet, happy girl. I love watching her personality develop!

Georgia Kate is 7 Months Old!

Big girl!
So happy!
Not so sure about this helmet thing :-(
Going for a ride in her brother's police boat!
Weight: 16 lbs 9 oz (We still are not sure why she isn't gaining weight...we have to go back for a weight check again in a few weeks. If she hasn't gained, we will probably have to start supplementing with formula.)

Height: 29 inches

What she's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 6-9 month clothes

Eating: Breakfast, lunch and dinner (like a real person!)...she nurses and eats solids. So far, she loves everything we've given her. She's getting really good at self-feeding too!

Sleeping: 7:45 pm - 6:00 am...she no longer nurses right before bed. She's a cinch to put down at night...give her a binky and her blankie and she's good to go!

Special Tricks: Georgia is getting SO close to sitting up on her own! She stills spends a lot of time on her belly and is getting much stronger and is able to hold herself up for much longer periods of time.

Activities: Georgia is very active. She loves to watch her brother and is interacting with him so much more these days. She is doing really well with her helmet and physical therapy. Hopefully, both of these will be a thing of the past very soon!

Tennessee - Summer 2014

Last month, my family met in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee for our 2nd annual Flournoy Family Vacation. After spending 5 days in a beautiful house in the mountains, Don, the kids and I headed down to Georgia for the rest of the week. We had a great time catching up with everyone! I think Oliver especially loved being around his bigger cousins. He's still talking about them :-)
