Our New Mudroom

It seems like we've had multiple home improvements going on recently at our house. First, since warm weather is upon us, we stained and weatherproofed our deck. It's a lot darker than before and looks great!



We also made major changes to our mudroom. Here are a few "before" pictures...

We decided to put up our own version of wainscotting by creating boxes with pieces of lumber.

Then, everything below the railing got a fresh coat of white paint.

We also installed new hooks for all our coats, bags, etc.

And added a few finishing touches...

Then, we decided to go ahead and put in the window seat that I've been really wanting. The big window in the mudroom has just been begging for a window seat! Here's the first part...

Then, we added dividers and baskets for each of us to keep our winter hats, gloves, scarves, etc. in.

I had been looking for a cushion for the top but wasn't really finding exactly what I wanted so I decided to go ahead and make it myself. I found this great coral suede (in the clearance aisle!), added some batting and attached it to a piece of MDF. I love how it turned out and it compliments the pictures I made so well!



Next up: landscaping...yikes!
