Once we settled into the house and caught up with one another, we headed into downtown Durango to check things out. They have a very cute downtown with lots of shops and restaurants. We had a great time walking around and then headed back to the house to relax for the evening...or relax as much as you can when there's a water balloon war going on. The next day we headed to Mesa Verde National Park which is a couple of hours from Durango. Mesa Verde is home to hundreds of ancient Pueblan cliff dwellings that date back almost 1500 years. They are amazing!
Hanging out downtown...Oliver wasn't too sure about that guy!
Cute cousins!
Eventually, they resorted to throwing water balloons on themselves :)
Silly boys!
The older siblings
We took a little walk around the property, looking for animals...and found some cool cacti!
And more deer...
Oliver was a big fan of all of Finley's art supplies.

Looking down into one of the rooms...this would usually be covered and accessible by ladder
Different rooms
Looking into one of the rooms
A cliff dwelling from afar
Mesa Verde is a beautiful park!
Lots of beautiful landscape
There are over 600 cliff dwellings in this park...remarkable!
This is the one we visited.
Probably my favorite vacation picture...this was at the picnic area where we ate lunch.
Somebody was getting overheated and overtired at this point...ha!
