DIY Project #762

I know that it seems that all I post anymore are pictures of DIY projects, but there is a good reason for that. Being 8 and a 1/2 months pregnant, I can't get out and do much these days so we've been spending a lot of time at home. What better thing to do when you're at home than DIY projects? It's our nerdy way of spending quality time together.
Since I'm also in nesting mode, I've been rearranging furniture and organizing things around the house. I decided to move our baker's/wine rack to the dining room which left a big, empty space in the kitchen. We decided to build a little shelf to house our cell phones, keys and other miscellaneous junk. It actually is painted a shade of off-white even though it looks unfinished in the picture.
Now, if only I could figure out how to hide those cords...

Another DIY Project

A few weeks ago, Don and I started out next DIY project. This one was a bit more involved than the console table so it took us a lot longer. You can find the plans here.

This bookshelf was two pieces so we had to build one side...

stain and poly it...

and then build the other side.

It is not perfect, but I think it looks great in our living room.

If you check out the plans, you will notice that we left out the two middle pieces. We had originally planned on adding them, but since the wood we bought was not perfect and the shelf didn't turn out perfectly square, the two middle pieces ended up just showcasing the imperfections.

I'll post about our next project soon!

Snowpocalypse 2011

About 2 weeks ago, we got a huge ice storm here in Indianapolis. Schools were closed for 4 days, and it was difficult to get around the city. This was all good news for Hoosier because he LOVES the snow and cold weather, and luckily for him, his daddy was home to play with him outside.

He absolutely loves to roll around and play in the snow.

He spent a lot of time outside chasing frozen tennis balls and snow balls that Don threw for him.

I don't know why, but he always buries his face in the snow and ends up looking like this.

These pictures don't really do it justice, but we had almost 2 inches of ice. You could literally ice skate down the road.

After Hoosier is outside in the snow for awhile, it starts sticking to his curly fur, and he ends up looking like this.

Don't worry...we gave him a warm bath and melted all the ice with a hairdryer once he came inside.

Don also took him for a walk along the river a few days after the storm. Hoosier loves going for walks in the woods.

All in all, I enjoyed having 4 days off school, and Hoosier and I both loved having Don home with us! I guess Snowpocalypse 2011 wasn't so bad after all!
