Tennessee - Summer 2014

Last month, my family met in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee for our 2nd annual Flournoy Family Vacation. After spending 5 days in a beautiful house in the mountains, Don, the kids and I headed down to Georgia for the rest of the week. We had a great time catching up with everyone! I think Oliver especially loved being around his bigger cousins. He's still talking about them :-)

Georgia Kate is 6 Months Old!

So I am WAY late with this post, but here goes...

Weight: 16 lbs 9 oz (her weight gain has really slowed down, for some reason)

Height: 29 inches (she is crazy long!)

What she's wearing: Size 3 diaper, 6-9 month clothes

Eating: She nurses and eats solids for breakfast, lunch, dinner and at bedtime. She is still on the reflux meds and is NOT ready to be off them yet. I also tried to reintroduce a TINY (we're talking a tablespoon) amount of dairy into my diet, and it did not end well for anybody. :( Guess we will wait another month or so and try again.

Sleeping: She eats at 7:30 pm, and then she falls asleep until 6:00 am when I wake her up to eat again. She's completely weaned off the swaddler and mainly sleeps on her belly now. She loves to snuggle with her little blankie while she sleeps.

Special Tricks: Georgia still doesn't roll over very much, but she can. She is getting really good at reaching out, grabbing things and manipulating them with her hands. She is developing quite the personality and is incredibly impatient!

Activities: Georgia still spends almost all of the time on her belly. She continues to do weekly physical therapy to work on strengthening her arms and neck muscles. She still struggles to push herself up on her arms for long periods of time, as well as hold her head midline. She has definitely made progress since the beginning though!

Georgia and Oliver continue to be the light of our lives. It is so much fun to watch them interact, now that she is a bit older and more responsive. What a pair, those two!

Georgia Kate is 5 Months Old!

Weight: somewhere in the 17 lb. range (Miraculously, we haven't been to the pediatrician lately!)

Height: 27ish inches

What she's wearing: Size 2 diaper, 6-9 month clothes

Eating: Every 4 hours. She also eats fruits and veggies at breakfast, lunch and dinner time. She isn't overly wild about solids yet, but she's making progress. :) She is still on reflux medication, and we haven't tried reintroducing any cow's milk into my diet yet since she's been doing so well.

Sleeping: She eats at 8:00 pm, and then she falls asleep until 6:00 am when I wake her up to eat again. She's mostly weaned from the swaddler. At this point, we use it as more of a sleep sack.

Special Tricks: Georgia can roll over front to back and back to front...she just doesn't. The Diva prefers to just scream and cry until someone moves her to a new location. :-)

Activities: These days, Georgia hangs out mostly on her belly, in her Bumbo seat or in the high chair. She recently began weekly physical therapy for her torticollis and plagiocephaly so we have learned a LOT about positioning. We are working on strengthening her arms and getting her to push up on them when she's on her belly. She's starting to do this a little bit but has a long way to go. Georgia has also found her feet and plays with them all the time. Fascinating, those things!

Other than this, she continues to be pretty happy and giggly. She super ticklish now and still thinks her big brother is the funniest thing ever! Oliver's favorite thing right now is to yell "Hot dog" to her, and she just cracks up. It is too funny! Love those two!

Georgia's Baptism Day

Today was Georgia's special day...she was baptized! The service was beautiful, and Georgia was a pretty good girl, despite being well overdue for a nap. Thank you to all our family and friends for helping us to celebrate our sweet girl on her special day!
My people
The godparents...Aunt Debbie and Uncle Dave
Grandma and Grandpa K.
Gigi, Aunt Fay and Uncle Matt
Father Ted
Lizzie doing a reading
Anointing her hands, feet and forehead
Preparing the font
Oliver couldn't wait for the pouring :)
She loved it!
Oliver said, "Did you like being baptized, baby?" Melt my heart.
Lighting the baptismal candle
Having a private chat with Father Ted
This 3 year old was over it. I think his face says it all.
Oliver had to chat up Father Ted after the service. He kept telling him he looked like a "police car guy." Ha!
I love the baptismal font at Seton. So beautiful!
He's ready to go!
Yummy vegan cupcakes...so mommy can enjoy them :-)

Georgia Kate is 4 Months Old!

Weight: 15 lbs 8 oz

Height: 26 inches

What she's wearing: Size 2 diaper, 3-6 month clothes

Eating: Every 4 hours. She eats cereal with her bottles. She have also tried applesauce, but she's still not very interested.

Sleeping: She eats at 8:00 pm, and then she falls asleep until 6:00 am when I wake her up to eat again. We have been weaning her from the swaddler recently because she is like Houdini...it doesn't matter how tightly I swaddle her, she always manages to get at least one limb out. \

Special Tricks: Georgia is giggling all the time now. She has also rolled over one time (at the sitter's) but hasn't been interested in a repeat performance. She has also found her voice. She loves to shriek and babble. Her hands are always in her mouth, and occasionally she sucks her thumb.

Activities: Georgia is still loving her playmat, Bumbo seat (when her big brother gives it up for her!) and her exersaucer. She is a mover and a shaker so she prefers to stretch out and be able to kick and move around.

Georgia is developing quite the personality! She wants things when she wants them! It's been so much fun to watch how she and Oliver interact with one another. They definitely are smitten with each other...at least for the time being!
