Paris Trip - Day 6

Our last full day in Paris. :( Luckily, we had an amazing day! We started off our morning with the first real breakfast of our entire trip. Don had heard about this place, Frenchie To Go, and wanted to try it out. Getting there may have been the best walk of my life. We walked through the coolest market district. There were literally hundreds of boucheries, boulangeries, chocolatiers, patisseries, fromageries, cafes, etc. The whole street was bustling with Parisians shopping for their dinner! We made plenty of stops along the way...so cool! That was probably one of the things I liked best about Paris...I can definitely get on board with buying fresh, local ingredients each morning for dinner that night!

Anyways, on the other end of the market district was Frenchie To Go. We were the only ones in the restaurant (typical of our entire trip since Americans and Parisians eat on VERY different time frames). We each ordered their specialty breakfast sandwich which was simple and amazing!

After breakfast, we walked over to the Pompidou, which is Paris's modern art museum. The building itself is somewhat of a monstrosity, but I definitely enjoyed the art more than I did at the Orsay or Louvre. Of course, some of it was just strange, but overall, it was enjoyable. :) We spent some time checking out some of the works of my favorite artists (Kandinsky and Rothko) and then headed outside to sit by the Stravinsky Fountain for a bit since it was actually somewhat sunny on this day.

We spent the rest of the day walking around, shopping and eating gelato before dinner. For our last dinner in the city, we had reservations at Le Chemise, a wonderfully quaint and cozy restaurant in a hip, up and coming neighborhood. The owner of the restaurant was so kind and read and explained the entire menu to us in english. He made our meal such a great experience! Dinner was, once again, amazing but also bittersweet. At this point, we were missing the kiddos and ready to get home but also enjoying ourselves so much. Lord only knows when we will have peace and quiet like this again!

Our fabulous dinner was a great end to a fabulous trip! We were very sad to learn that, not even 2 weeks after our return, the neighborhood that we spent our last evening in, as well as the city we came to love, was attacked by terrorists. We were so grateful that we were already home but definitely had the people of the city of Paris in our thoughts and prayers.
