Paris Trip - Day 1

In October, Don and I finally got to celebrate our 10th anniversary with our big trip to Paris! Our trip was put on hold this summer when I got the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship and had to spend 60+ hours per week in class. It was well worth the wait, though. It was definitely the trip of a lifetime!

The first day was spent exploring the neighborhood around our hotel. The bulk of the day and evening, we checked out the Arc de Triomphe and walked the Champs Elysees. It was a lovely evening. We got our first look at the Eiffel Tower lit up at night which was magical! We ended the evening by eating a delicious dinner at a cozy cafe, L'Absinthe.

I'd say our first day was a success!

The Arc de Triomphe

To get to the top, we climbed this amazing spiral staircase.

A stunning view of the Champs Elysees from the top.

This is the most we could see of the Eiffel Tower for the first couple of days...so foggy!

Eternal flame at the base

Shopping on the Champs Elysees

Unbelievably beautiful!

There are really no words to describe how crazy the traffic and drivers are in Paris.

This is normal.

Obelisk

Daniel Craig was at the Arc the week before us...darn!

View of the Arc from down the Champs Elysees

Fountains everywhere!

The Arc again

Our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower at night

Our first dinner in Paris...L'Absinthe Cafe

Dinner was divine. This lobster mac 'n cheese was possibly Don's favorite food in the whole world!
